Wireframes continue the process of defining the User Interface by illustrating navigation and content elements at the page level. They are created for each unique page on the site and serve as templates for all subsidiary pages.

By bringing together the site organization, content labeling, and navigation into one view, wireframes help the design and development teams – as well as the business sponsor – better understand the information/interaction experience of the site and the framework shaping the overall user experience.

In-Page Functionality

Call-outs on the page, and a convention to indicate variables, help the developer identify the state of any rollover actions, link targets, and dynamic content. If the team is following a traditional development methodology, wireframes form the basis for detailed functional specs, which will be used to build and test the site.
